Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept



 It seems that Mercedes will soon have Subaru to accompany them with vehicles equipped with Gullwing doors. with the debut of  Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show. Powering the Subaru concept is a 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed direct fuel-injection turbo gasoline engine coupled with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. Being Subaru's first hybrid drive train hence electric motors at each axle along with lithium-ion batteries will be working hand in hand with the combustion engine to provide propulsion to the car. Do note that the engine is link to the wheels via a new generation Lineatronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) unlike the ones found on the Chevrolet Volt. According to Subaru, the front electric motors rated at 10kW / 13HP  functions as a generator  to recharge the lithium-ion battery & will only provide power if the need arises. The motors located at the rear axle will move the vehicle from start-up & extremely low speeds with power output rated at 20kW / 27HP.
