Autoalert : Peugeot 408 gets out of shape!

Peugeot was doing great launching beautifully design cars which accentuates French Sexiness until this came along. It seems the designers have taken the wide & large grille thing way to far and damn the next generation 408's front fascia to look like a sucker fish. The rear has hints of the Astra too.The headlamp looks sharp & fine but the front bumper has Kia Optima/Lotze influence in it. According to Autoexpress the radical design of the 408 was meant to rival that of Mondeo's & Insignia. They added that sportiness is the theme for this generation. Currently there are no pictures available on the interior yet but French automaker promises a big leap in interior quality which will see he head-up display seen on the new 3008 to be included. The next generation of 408 will be sharing the same platform as the latest Citroen C5 which means the Hydropneumatic suspension might be thrown in as well. Expect a range advance efficient diesels to be found under the hood when the car hits the showroom in 2011. Development of a diesel-electric hybrid is in the pipeline as well, naturally.

AutoAlert : Fangs Of The New Peugeot 208

Pictures of the 207 successor has already surface even tough the 207 just receive a make over recently. Noticeable change will be the prominent nose with a huge badge, enormous headlights and bold air intakes. A design that will definitely make heads turn in the Malaysian street.It does resemble the sharp teeth of a feline beast with braces unfortunately but no less handsome. The new Peugeot chief designer Jean-Pierre Ploue wanted to car to be radically different from the 207 and it sure does succeed in making it. Details on this beast is still hazy for in the mean time but expect Peugeot to dumped its latest super efficient petrol & diesel + turbo charged engines into the car. Production expected to begin in 2012 according to Autoexpress.

AutoAlert: The Peugeot 207 gets a facelift

The 207 freshen up to take on the rest of 2009 and 2010. Along with this facelift is the improved engine that emits less CO2 where the base diesel model expecting to touch 99g/km. External tweaks include LED tail-lamps and restyled front headlight. USB and bluetooth connectivity is now part of the standard equipment along with remote electric windows. Peugeot should be announcing the price tag around next month. Oh yeah, this facelift applies throughout the entire range of the 207 family from the estate, hatchback to the CC coupe.

AutoAlert : First look on the 2009 Citroen C3

The Supermini class just got hotter with the new Citroen C3 joining the Party soon to steal some attention the Fiesta & Polo is currently enjoying. The DS3 concept that debut earlier has shown off most of the design elements in the upcoming C3 as promised by Citroen officials. While the DS3 was created to rival the likes of the BMW Mini, the C3 caters to the masses who wants a stylish runabout that is cheaper to run.

The crowning jewel of the C3 would be the 'Zenith' panoramic glass with progressive tint to keep out those harmful UV rays. Customers will be happy to know that the C3 will be sharing most of the high-quality interior trim found in the DS3 coupled with an upgraded insulation system. Pictures reveal a dash that features a generous amount of brush aluminium across the dash with an integrated LCD display that might house the Navigation system (touch screen hopefully :). As sporty as the steering might look it seems to be void of any buttons as opposed to the Current C4's control panel lookalike wheel. Perhaps the designer's at Citroen decided that drivers should not be distracted by the array of controls beneath their fingers hence reduce risk of accidents on the road.

Anyway, customers getting the entry level variant does not need to pay road tax as it is equipped with Citroen's HDi engine emitting just 99g/km of CO2. Not resting on their laurels Citroen is going to push this green agenda further by introducing the start & stop technology to further reduce the C3's greenhouse gas emissions. Expect pricing to be around Polo & Fiesta with generous standard equipment if Citroen is serious in beating the 2 contenders.
