2011 Hyundai Sonata US Pricing

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California — The 2011 Hyundai Sonata remains in the under-$20,000 sweet spot. Pricing for the redesigned sedan was announced on Monday. The 2011 Sonata GLS starts at $19,915, including a $720 destination charge, slotting it below the 2010 Toyota Camry and 2010 Honda Accord.

The base 2010 Camry, which is part of the Japanese automaker's massive throttle recall, starts at $20,145, including a $750 destination charge. The base 2010 Honda Accord LX starts at $21,765, including a $710 destination charge.

The most expensive model in the lineup is the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited with a navigation package, which tops out at $28,115, including shipping. The sporty 2011 Hyundai Sonata SE model starts at $23,315, including shipping.

Hyundai raised the price of the base Sonata by $495 over the outgoing 2010 model.

The base 2011 Sonata GLS is equipped with a 198-horsepower 2.4-liter inline-4 linked to a six-speed manual transmission. The "Popular Equipment package," which bundles 16-inch alloy wheels, a power driver seat, chrome interior door handles and other features, adds $750 to the bottom line. Options on the 2011 Sonata SE model include a $2,600 navigation and sunroof package.

2011 Hyundai Elantra

I was scavenging through the automotive world when I came across the spyshots of the next generation Hyundai Elantra codenamed 'MD'. Some of you may have seen it but I feel there is no harm sharing the fun of anticipation again. Pictures are sourced from TheCarblogger.net :

Details on the new Elantra is still hazy but expect to see Hyundai’s new 2.0L Theta four-cylinder engine placed under its hood. In addition, Hyundai will probably introduce a 1.6L four-cylinder engine in the entry-level, Elantra Blue model, which will achieve above average mileage thanks to the applied gasoline direct injection technology.


The Interior seems to sport an unconventional design which reminds me of some form of extra-terrestial. Air-Cond vents positioning seems a bit low like the ones found on the pre-midlife facelift Sonata.


The rims design does not really match the overall 'fluidic' design theme.

Hyundai's Future Plans For UK Market

Hyundai is planning to Strengthen its Presence in the UK after gaining a good amount to leverage from the country's scrappage scheme. Kicking things off is the face lifted Tucson set to go on sale within weeks.

Fast forward to the first quarter of 2010, its replacemant the Hyundai ix35 will further give the Korean Car maker the boost.

In the second half of 2010, the firm will launch two new MPVs in an attempt to broaden its range and compete in market sectors where it has previously struggled. The first model will be based upon the Kia Venga unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show, while a larger seven-seater will arrive at the same time.

The five-seater will be based on the firm’s i20 supermini platform and will share its engine with that model. Whitehorn says the car’s main competitor will be the Nissan Note; that means the car will, in effect, be the replacement for the unloved Matrix. It will share its engines with the i20 and will adopt the firm’s ‘i’ badge.

Whitehorn further added that the seven-seater is likely to be based on the i-mode concept car, displayed at the Geneva motor show in 2008. This model will be a rival to the Vauxhall Zafira, sharing its platform and engines with the i30 hatchback.





The stylish i40 sedan is also set to go on sale in 2011 with the possibility of launch during the Bologna motor show later in 2010. Saloon, hatchback and estate versions will all be offered.


It was sometime ago when Hyundai announced its 800cc three-cylinder turbocharged engine. It is now confirmed that the power plant will make it to he popular i10 city car which will receive cosmetic & trim updates.

Production version of the Veloster concept could roll-off the production plant in 2011 according to Whitehorn. Though he said that firm's new flagship model won't contribute much to sales numbers.

Finally, a production version of the ix-metro concept from Frankfurt should arrive in 2012. The source said it would “look much the same as the concept” and will be pitched as a rival to the Nissan Qazana.

New Hyundai Accent Spied

Koreans are definitely on the roll here as the next gen Hyundai Accent was caught somewhere in Kimchi land and boy it does look like a mini Sonata YF which drew massive attention both positive & negative even before it was launched. The accent set to follow the path of its larger sibling by featuring Hyundai's  design DNA language, called “Fluidic Sculpture” albeit on a smaller scale. According to Hyundai blog the Accent will be available as 4 door sedan or three door hatchback & it will sit on the i20's platform. One expects to find the1.6 liter direct-injection petrol powerplant with 140 horsepower that returns over 40 mpg. It will also be available with Hyundai’s advanced hybrid powertrain that the company has currently in the works. Should we expect to spot the next generation Kia Rio too? I sure do hope so.

AutoAlert : 800cc Turbo Hyundai i10

The green version of Hyundai i10 will be powered by a new 800cc, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which should produce around 90bhp and emit less than 100g/km. Set to go on sale in mid 2010 the i10 will most probably receive a minor facelift to accompany the new power plant under the hood of the popular Indian-built Korean hatch. This small hatch will most likely be named the i10 blue in line with other green Hyundai Cars.

That is the name given to the 2010 Hyundai Sonata which is going to be launched soon. My guess would be during the Frankfurt Motor Show. Here are a mixture of spyshots from various sources showing the exterior silhouette of the car. The picture above is a fairly accurate rendering of how the vehicle will look like without all those disguise. Hey it is even caught doing its rounds Dubai. Set to ruffle the feathers of the popular Accord & Camry, officials at Hyundai motors stated that this model will feature Hyundai's original design style in order to give it an identity which the previous generations lack. Judging by initial photos, the exterior do look trendy & dynamic. having said that ,credit has to be given to Hyundai for delivering an interior that is superbly good looking with plenty of high quality materials to entice drivers. A dual cockpit design, giving the driver and front passenger their own living quarters with a HVAC control inspired by Volvo can be seen on the center fascia. Expect engines that are both powerful & economical to be offered with this new generation of Sonata. Perhaps the four-cylinder and V6 gasoline engines while Europeans may be offered the choice of four-banger turbo diesels including a new 2.0-liter four-pot with 185 horsepower. In a nutshell I see another success story going into Hyundai's history log book.

AutoAlert : Hyundai Veloster Set To Arrive In 2011

Hyundai is planning to offer consumers a vehicle that can satisfy the speed demon in them without the frequent trips to the Gas station. Hyundai's president & CEO John Krafcik said the compact sports coupe will bear 70-80% resemblance to the Veloster concept which debut at the 2006 Los Angelas International Auto Show. He further added, "It might be doors or a unique roof or something with the hatch. But it won't be like anything out there before in the small car segment." Well we will take his word for now and expect something that will stun the automotive arena by then.

John Krafcik also quoted that the car will be similar in size to the accent & it will be fun vehicle to drive without compromising on mileage. Power is expected to come from a 1.6Liter four-cylinder with direct injection producing 140 horsepower with mileage figures touching 40MPG.To further entice drivers Hyundai will include a screen in the dashboard for that 'cool factor'.
