When I saw the sketch of the new Nissan Micra/March I can't help but to feel suspicious that the actual product won't be as eye-catching as promised. These images leaked from Nissan Dongfeng factory in China reveals a boring & cheapo looking Micra which is a far cry from the current generation. The current generation Micra has a premium look & feel to because it was never intended to be a low cost vehicle. The Micra has certainly lost it.

New Nissan Micra With Colours

The Nissan Micra is previewed a year ahead of its official launch in the UK. Autoexpress presents us with these photos taken from a top-secret event held in Tokyo & it seems the overall exterior styling can be summed up with 2 words. (safe + mundane). The next generation Micra does look like an evolution of the current one but the new Micra actually sits on a new V-platform which according to Nissan is lighter & offer more cabin space. Nissan added that an all new Note that is due in late 2o11 will be build upon this versatile platform. It is common to see cars putting on some weight as the proceed from one generation to another but the new Micra is actually 50 kg lighter than the outgoing model. There will be a new three-cylinder engine & CVT auto gearbox to go along with the new Generation of Micra. Thrown in a start-stop system and you will end up with a sub-120g/km CO2 output with fuel ecomnomy of 60mpg. Sales will commence in October 2010.

Nissan Releases Sketch Of next gen Micra
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has revealed the sketch of its global compact car. This model will be initially launched in Thailand in March 2010 and will be available in more than 150 countries. At the same time, Nissan Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd. announced that the model will qualify as Thailand’s first “Eco-car.” Thai Eco-car government policy is effective today and will help promote the development of energy efficient vehicles. The renderings somehow reminds me of an Aygo suffering from 'shock' and hence swollen to the size of the Micra (Anyone sees some hint of the previous gen Ford Ka?). The change at the back is quite subtle for a 'next generation vehicle' while the front doesn't really look exciting either. I foresee this Micra/ March to be another boring run about which is quite disappointing actually given the fact I was smitten by the current generation when it first debut many years back.
