The Suzuki Swift has always been a distinctive, if slightly leftfield, choice, but the latest model aims to bring it into the supermini mainstream. While the new car looks similar to the cheeky previous generation, it has a revised range of engines and promises more interior space – and is on the hunt for victory.

At first glance, it would be easy to dismiss the Swift as a facelifted model, because it looks exactly the same as its predecessor. Examine it more closely, though, and there are some major differences. For a start, it’s 90mm longer and 10mm taller than before.

2010 Suzuki Kizashi Price Announced

The Suzuki Kizashi was made public earlier this year and the price for the US Market has been revealed. Listed below are the price for various trims (excluding $735 for destination and handling) :

The entry level Kizashi comes equipped with eight airbags (front/rear side and curtain), keyless start, dual-zone climate control, a 9-speaker stereo system with steering wheel mounted controls, powered windows, doors and mirrors and ambient and footwell lighting. Impressive for a car of this class.

The SE trim will set you back an additional $2,500 that adds continuously variable transmission (CVT), 17-inch alloys, a 10-way adjustable driver’s seat, 3-position memory for the driver’s seat, and a leather wrapped parking break handle and steering wheel with cruise control.

The next level of upgrade is the Sporty GTS model with a price starting at $22,499. This will se your Kizashi ship in with Rockford Fosgate 10-speaker stereo, Bluetooth connectivity, 18-inch wheels, fog lights and a power moon roof.

The Flagship Kizashi (SLS Model) has everything the GTS has with additional goodies such as leather seats, power passenger seat, heated front seats, auto dimming rear view mirror, heated outside mirrors, automatic rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps and rear proximity sensors with audible warning and graphic display. Prices for this model start at $24,399 (plus $735 for destination and handling).

Suzuki Alto & SX4-FCV (Fuel-Cell Vehicle) Concept

Here are the highlights of Suzuki's showcase at the coming Tokyo international Motorshow. I blogged about the Swift EV earlier and here is another two models for Suzuki to flaunt. First stop is the Alto Concept......hmmm at first glance it looks like a production ready vehicle and I feel the word concept is out of place. Perhaps a facelift from the current version should be more appropriate. Anyway the concept retains most of  the design cues found on the current generation with a dash of nip-tuck thrown in. The side has more resemblance to the Suzuki Splash/Opel Agile with a more upmarket interior is a welcome step forward. The SX4 Fuel Cell will be accompanying the alto on the stage & it features a high-pressure (70MPa) hydrogen tank and a light, compact capacitor, which promotes driving performance by recovering energy during brake application and using it to reduce fuel-cell loading during acceleration..

Suzuki Swift Plug-in Hybrid Concept

The Swift Plug-in Hybrid will be making its debut at the Tokyo International Motorshow. As the name suggest this idea from Suzuki & is aimed at making the frugal Swift even greener by incorporating a hybrid system very much similar to the Chevrolet Volt. This implies the 660 cc engine, probably sourced from a kei car will be propelling the dynamo that charges the the lithium-ion batteries. The battery which can be seen located between the 2 front seats will be powering the 54 kW motor attached to the front wheels. What caught my attention is the funky seats that won't look out of place in a sports car or even a contemporary office but it will most likely be a pain in the ass ( literally )for those long journeys.

AutoAlert : Suzuki Kizashi unveiled

Suzuki have officially launched its flagship sedan call the Kizashi but what dreads me the most is how a car that suppose to look something like this :
has been degraded into a boring looking metal on wheels.

Suzuki 's flagship (this word seems to be out of place in this article) sedan is nothing more than an upsize suzuki SX4 sedan with better looking projector head lamps and tail lamp to complement the car. Having said that, the only side of the car that looks 'premium' to me is the rear which hints Toyota Mark X and the older BMW 5-series. The interior lacks both the looks & 'luxurious touch' associated with a flagship model. The design of the dashboard looks like an after taught with questionable materials used as finishing.

Now looks aside, lets browse through the techical bits that this vehicle possess. Under the hood, you will find an all aluminium 2.4-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine connected to either a six-speed manual transmission or Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that claims to offer better fuel economy.

To keep drivers and passengers safe Suzuki has included standard eight airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP®)4, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution , a tire pressure monitoring system & what Suzuki calls 'synergetic vehicle dynamic control' that helps the car's four wheels stick to the tarmac. There is an option to equipped your car with some off-road capabilities by having i-AWD system bundle in together with your Kizashi. The system helps with traction control with torque distribution being governed by wheel slippage and throttle input. If suzuki is really serious in trying to gain respect in this segment, they have to give the Kizashi a major overhaul. Until then we will still be waiting for "something great" to come.
