2011 Volvo S60 Sedan Promotional Video

Set to be the most stunning Volvo sedan, the S60 was conceive as a BMW 3 series & Audi A4 challenger. Here is the short promotional video showing the Volvo S60 blazing through the road + desert.

Production of the sleek-looking four-door sedan model will start in early summer at the Volvo Cars plant in Ghent, Belgium.

Volvo hasn't issued specific details on the car that's based on the 2009 Detroit Show S60 Concept, but it is believed that it will make use of the company's smaller in size and more fuel efficient, turbocharged gasoline engines with direct-injection including the recently revealed 2.0 GTDI with 203HP and a 1.6-liter four pot with up to 180HP.

New Volvo V50 Now In Malaysia

Volvo V50
Swedish Motor Assemblies has rolled out another Volvo model to complement the newly launched S40 2.0 Powershift not very long ago. The Volvo V50 wagon is locally assembled and it comes with a price tag of RM RM185,950 (OTR without insurance). Whether or not the additional RM16,000 more over the sedan variant justifies the additional space available + the ability to proudly display your mountain bike is up for you to decide. Here are the details from Paultan:
Volvo V50

The V50 2.0 Powershift is powered by a 145 bhp/185 Nm 2.0-litre engine (which is essentially the Duratec engine found in the Ford Focus) mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission called Powershift, also from Ford. Like the S40, this variant replaces the 2.4-litre five-pot V50 – fuel consumption is reduced by up to 11% with this new drivetrain, says Volvo.

Compared to the V50 2.4i, this new variant has a few new features, such as Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Dynamic Stability Traction Control (DSTC), bi-xenon headlights, keyless entry and a new Brilliant Blue colour. BLIS is a Volvo innovation which alerts the driver of vehicles “hiding” in his/her blind spot. A warning light inside of the side mirrors illuminate in such a case, so you know when not to change lanes.

The Blue V50 you see comes with optional extras such as roof rack, a subtle bodykit and blue dials from Volvo’s R-design catalogue for an addtional amount of course.

2.0 liter Volvo S40 with Powershift Now In Malaysia

Volvo S40 with Powershift
The Volvo S40 has been updated to incorporate Volvo's version of the Dual-Clutch Transmission called the Powershift. The powershift means the Volvo S40 now has a smoother ride thanks to inherent properties of Dual-Clutch Transmission which is able to up & downshift almost seamlessly.

Volvo claims that the 6-speed Powershift transmission coupled with a 2.0 liter engine results in 11% improvement of fuel efficiency over its predecessor. The 2.0 liter engine churns out a maximum power of 145hp @ 6000 rpm & 185Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. The S40 can do a century sprint in 9.8 seconds with top speed of 205km/h. Fuel efficiency is now rated at 8.1 liters per 100km.

Among the visible exterior updates on the S40 includes new alloy wheels design, bumper and front grill. On the inside we will have aluminium inlays on the floating console instead of the wooden one shown in the pictures. The new Volvo S40 goes for RM 169,950 without insurance.

Preview Of The 2010 Volvo S60

2010 Volvo S60
These are official pictures released by Volvo showing off the Foxy Volvo S60. The S60 was design to lift the Swedish marque to a new level in terms of design. It promise to be sportier and more dynamic than any Volvo to date & I am seriously backing their claims.

Among the features that were confirm to in the S60 includes the Pedestrian Detection – a groundbreaking safety feature that can detect pedestrians in front of the car and brake automatically if the driver does not react in time.

“The all-new Volvo S60 is sculpted to move you. It looks and drives like no other Volvo before and the car’s technology will help you to be safer and more confident behind the wheel,” says Stephen Odell, President and CEO of Volvo Cars. He further added that “Customers in this segment want emotional appeal, sporty design and dynamic driving properties. The S60 has it all. We are convinced that it will be one of the strongest contenders around,”.

The New Volvo S60 Sketched By A Blind Artist

Volvo S60 concept

The Next generation Volvo S60
will only be launched in next year's Geneva Motor Show in March 2010 but that did not stop Volvo's Live Communication & Social Media group from inviting a blind Turkish Artist named Esref Armagan to 'feel' & sketch the 2011 Volvo S60. Lukas Dohle director Live Communication & Social Media group at Volvo said " Since the car itself is not being launched until the Geneva Motor Show next year, this is a unique way for us to show an extraordinary artist rendition of the forthcoming model." Oh Ya by the way, the pictures shown are the S60 concept. I've actually seen the final product myself & I can say that Volvo preserved most of the design elements shown in the Concept.
